Languedoc-Roussillon: beaches… but so much more!

Nature hasn’t really decided what to do between Pyrénées Orientales and Aude... the sea has never dared to breach the barrier beach and fresh water mixes with salt water to form lagoons and coastal pools. At just a short distance from the club, we will take you for a discovery of the exceptional sites that are hidden behind this strip of sand, which is also known as... the Lido!

1. Cast off on the Leucate lagoon

The first sight you will come across is the Leucate lagoon, the second largest lagoon in Languedoc-Roussillon! You will be able to observe many species of birds and flora and admire the authentic fishermen’s huts that line the shore… It will then be time for something quite different. Every month of May, the “mondial du vent” attracts fans of kitesurfing, windsurfing, stand-up paddleboarding and other boardsports… Why not take advantage of this marine lake to try out some water sports? The sun and the wind are there to inspire you!

2. Keep some free time to go to the beach.

Another joy in perspective – mile after mile of fine sandy beaches! You’ll have plenty of room to take it easy. Whether you want to laze in the sun, go swimming or choose a water sports activity, you are sure to find your heart’s content! We even bet that you will fall under the spell of the paillottes, the irresistible little beach restaurants where you can take a break… before going back to the beach to relax some more!

3. The marvels of Narbonnais Natural Park

Once you have perfected your tan, swap your beach towel for a pair of espadrilles and set out to admire the great diversity of Narbonnais Natural Park. Explore the lagoons, dunes, pine forests, scrublands and rocky cliffs of the Clape massif and follow your whim of the moment. Whether you are on foot, bike or horseback, you can stop off in the vineyards to taste some Corbières wine or visit villages that are two millennia old! Whatever road you choose, they all lead to a strange feeling of well-being… which is only natural in this Natural Park!

4. Fun in the Pyrenees

Thrill seekers can also get their dose of adrenaline by going rafting and canyoning. Our partners at Shop And Bike in Toreilles will organise the perfect excursion for you! It is an excellent way to discover the back country from another angle, between the excitement of the descents and quieter moments when you can admire the magnificent landscapes. Take the right clothing – it’s going to make a splash!
